Special Investigations
In keeping with the vision of eliminating waste, fraud and abuse within State Government and throughout the Commonwealth, the Department of Revenue has stepped up efforts to identify and compliance fraudulent returns and non-filers.
Using new technologies to locate and identify potential fraud cases, the Department is dedicating additional resources to run fraud detection and collection efforts in addition to the already existing compliance programs. The Department will be using data, tips and techniques obtained from other state agencies and the Internal Revenue Service to track down would be civil and criminal cases. In addition, we will be working in cooperation with other local and state agencies to make sure these compliance efforts assist all taxing agencies within the Commonwealth to help stamp out fraud and abuse.
