Prospective candidates for the office of Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) must pass a qualifying exam based on vocabulary, reading comprehension and mathematical questions.  In order to sit for the exam, a candidate must be at least 24 years of age, have resided in the state for at least two years, and have resided in the county in which s/he is seeking office at least one year preceding the election or appointment.  

There is no fee to take the exam.  However, prospective candidates are asked to pre-register.  Please read the examination notice to learn more about the examination and pre-registration processes.

The state-wide PVA exam for the 2018 general election will be held on November 17, 2017.

The Kentucky Department of Revenue conducts work
under the authority of the Finance and Administration Cabinet.
