Requests for Taxpayer Information
All requests for confidential taxpayer information made by someone other than the taxpayer or taxpayer's authorized representative should be submitted to the Department of Revenue's Disclosure and Security Branch. Prior to the release of any information, disclosure staff will review requests to ensure that the requested information is permitted to be released by statute. Along with any request, please provide your name, address, and daytime telephone number in the event we need to contact you.
Exchange of Information Agreements
The Disclosure and Security Branch is responsible for administering the Department of Revenue's Exchange of Information Agreements (EOI) allowed under KRS 131.190(3). EOIs are available to any Kentucky agency, board, or commission; any Kentucky county or city; any other state; or the federal government. An EOI allows the Department of Revenue to share confidential information with an outside agency if that agency has an official business need for the information. EOIs require agencies to provide security measures to protect taxpayer data and to supply the details of those security measures to the Department of Revenue. The terms of these requirements are explained in the EOI. Additionally, each person with access to Department of Revenue information is required to sign an Acknowledgement of Confidentiality form stating they will follow the Department of Revenue's confidentiality statute, KRS 131.190.
A copy of the EOI and more information can be made available by request. Contact the Disclosure and Security Branch to find out more.
