🚨 Fraud Alert: Beware of Tax Refund Scams

The Kentucky Department of Revenue (DOR) has been made aware of fraudulent text messages being sent to taxpayers, falsely claiming to be from state revenue agencies.

These scam messages may:
• Ask you to click a link to provide bank or personal information,
• Threaten that you will lose your refund if you do not act immediately, or
• Reference fake statutes or deadlines to pressure you.

Important Reminders:
• The Kentucky Department of Revenue does not send text messages requesting personal or banking information.
• If you receive such a message, do not click any links and do not provide any personal information.
• Report suspicious messages to the Kentucky Office of the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division at ag.ky.gov/scams or call 1-888-432-9257.

For legitimate communication, the Department of Revenue will only contact you through official letters, via phone call, or secure online services.
