Exam open to Bullitt County residents only

FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Department of Revenue has announced a special examination to qualify prospective candidates to fill the currently vacant office of Bullitt County Property Valuation Administrator (PVA).

This special qualifying test - which is required by Kentucky Revised Statute (KRS) 132.380(1) - will be held at 10 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, July 14, 2020.

Applicants must meet criteria as set forth in Section 100 of the Kentucky Constitution. To be eligible, applicants must:

  • Be at least 24 years of age;
  • Be a citizen of Kentucky;
  • Have resided in the state at least two years preceding the election; and
  • Have resided in Bullitt County at least one year preceding the election.

A government-issued photo ID will be required for all examinees. The examination will be held at 10 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, July 14 at:

Due to social distancing requirements during the COVID-19 emergency, qualified individuals interested in taking the examination must pre-register with the Department of Revenue no later than 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, July 8.  In accordance with public health recommendations, examinees are requested to wear a face mask.

The written examination is based on verbal and mathematical skills. All materials necessary to take the examination, including calculators, are supplied. There is no study guide for the exam.

Qualified examinees with a score of 70 percent or better will be eligible for appointment by the Governor to serve as Bullitt County PVA until the expiration of the current term in December 2022.  The individual appointed PVA is eligible to seek re-election.
